"Letters from Beirut"
Feeling like we live in an era where authentic human connections are replaced with constant virtual connectivity, we are gathering a collection of over 4,000 personal letters from Lebanese citizens sharing their thoughts and feelings with strangers from different parts of the world during these peculiar times.
‘Letters from Beirut’ is a public interactive installation, aiming to continue the dialogue on the reconstruction of Lebanon's future and on the restoration of our collective memory.
The installation will further allow visitors to donate to various NGOs* supporting education for children, assisting psychological trauma, preserving our cultural heritage, and repairing damaged homes from the August 4th blast.
The first edition is in collaboration with Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council and will be held with The European Cultural Center during the Venice Architecture Biennale from the 22nd of May till the 21st of November 2021.
We would love your voice to be a part of it !
If you are interested, please type in the box below a word, a sentence you would like to share, or a poem that resonates with you today; anything you are comfortable with. We will then hand-transcribe it on paper for the installation, where visitors will read it and will be encouraged to connect with you by answering back.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to sharing with you the project very soon!
