FOLLOWING THE TIDE
Coffee-table Collection
This collection is inspired by the lagoons and cenotes in the state of Quintana Roo in Mexico: the movement of the tide and the change in topography reveal different materials shaping the intersection of earth and water. "Following the Tide" is an explosion erupted from the circular nucleus, dispersed into crushed Forest Green marble and aggregates of recuperated brass. It is composed in a pigmented resin on an oxidized bronze base.

MEMORY
Murano Sculptural Vessels
Memory is a project rooted in the exploration of gestures and their lasting impact on materials. It captures the memory of an action—the imprint of hand movements left on a surface, the scar of a gesture etched onto an object. Each piece in the series tells a story of transformation, where human intervention and material behavior intertwine, creating a dialogue between the fluidity of motion and the permanence of form.
The project consists of five sculptures, each beginning with the same shape, transformed at the furnace through various deformations like melting, smashing, twisting, and poking. Tara Sakhi is fascinated by the traces these manipulations leave on the object, resulting in five distinct iterations that preserve the memory of these interventions.
For Memory, Tara combines Murano glass with recycled aluminum from a damaged Lexus hood with gold leaves, juxtaposing noble materials like Murano glass and gold with disregarded metal waste. This reflects her ongoing interest in reconciling opposites—luxury and decay, precision and imperfection. Through traditional Murano glassblowing techniques, she explores the tension between the precious and the overlooked, the industrial and the organic.
Aligned with LEXUS’ values of human-centered design, craftsmanship, and sustainability, Memory reflects the resilience of materials, tracing the gestures that shape them, while embodying the intersection of luxury, impermanence, and craftsmanship. Each piece is a meditation on transformation, capturing the memory of both human intervention and material evolution.
